Former Cohn Restaurant Group Executive Chef Kat Humphus launched Savory Made Simple earlier this year. Select your meal preference (paleo and gluten-free, vegetarian, or chef’s favorite), and you’ll receive a kit with locally sourced ingredients, sustainable seafood, and responsibly raised meats. Meals like sriracha and steak lettuce wraps or brie and prosciutto grilled cheese come with directions and take 30–40 minutes to prepare. Plus, for every six meals you buy, Humphus will donate four to Feeding America San Diego.
Starts at $89 per week
Strapped for time? Try Kathleen Wise’s Rustic as Cluck. The Starlite exec chef, who will be leaving her post next month after a nine-year tenure, launched the meal delivery service in March. Here, she does the cooking, using produce she’s grown at her Logan Heights home, with entrées, salads, homemade bread, and dessert. The meals are mostly vegetarian, though she occasionally includes meat from chickens and turkeys she raises herself. Wise currently offers delivery once a week but plans to add weekend delivery, along with a date-night box and a bottle of vino sourced from local wine shops. Cheers!
