Room and Board is slated to open this month at Westfield UTC, next to Pirch, our favorite spot to dream about luxe Euro bathtubs and kitchen ranges. Now we can also dream about sofa sectionals and poolside loungers, thanks to Room and Board’s selection of sleek modern furnishings. The Pratt table and bench feature the Minneapolis-based company’s signature style, with a weatherproof, powder-coated steel frame, plastic tabletop made from recycled milk jugs, and durable Sunbrella fabric ($599–$1,949). The UTC location will be R&B’s first in San Diego, and that’s not the only new store headed its way. The outdoor mall is currently undergoing a $585-million refresh; look for more openings when the center officially unveils its new look this fall.
More stylish sofas can be found at the new Progress in Bird Rock. Owner Bruce Jaynes closed his South Park shop in late 2015 and recently reopened in the La Jolla area. His sofas are made to order in a variety of styles, lengths, and fabrics. The crescent-shaped Cove Sofa above ($1,399–$1,499), a nod to La Jolla Cove, “lends a softer side to a boxy room, is great for conversations, and is still long enough to stretch out for a nap,” Jaynes says. Plus, the kiln-dried hardwood frame has a lifetime warranty. Progress is also a great spot for unique giftables and more.

At the newly reopened La Jolla showroom of the always-chic Ligne Roset, design lovers can browse ample options for their in- and outdoor spaces. For summer, we’re coveting the new Backpack collection by LucidiPevere, which is modeled after vintage explorer backpacks. The chairs and love seats come in 25 different colors with fade- and waterproof fabric. Also noteworthy is the Grillage collection, designed by François Azambourg and inspired by origami. Each chair is made from perforated metal that is stretched, folded, and creased. Our derrieres never had it so good!
