The San Diego Chargers and the San Diego Padres teamed up with the American Cancer Society for the 2014 Discovery Celebration Gala & San Diego Invitational, the organization’s annual prominent events. More than 120 golfers attended the invitational, which kicked off with breakfast and shopping, followed by lunch, a silent auction, and post-tournament reception. Between the gala and invitational, more than $295,000 was raised for the American Cancer Society, which funds research, education, advocacy, and patient programs and services. To date, the San Diego Distinguished Events have netted more than $2.3 million for the American Cancer Society.
