The Old Globe stages a vibrant reminder to be stewards of the environment this month in Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax, adapted from the 1971 children’s book. The show’s mustached hero, brought to life and voiced by puppeteers, speaks for the silky-soft Truffula trees, which the story’s villain, Once-ler, cuts down and mass-produces into fashionable clothing.
It’s a cautionary tale and forever-relevant message to take care of the planet because, as San Diego’s own beloved Seuss put it, “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
