If you’ve overlooked cheaper airfare by way of Tijuana International Airport because of the hassle to get there, not to mention the northbound border wait upon return, it’s time to change your flight search. The highly anticipated Cross Border Xpress, a $120-million, 390-foot sky bridge, opened last month, linking Tijuana’s airport with a satellite terminal in Otay Mesa. For $12, ticketed passengers stroll between the two countries, rerouting an estimated two million people annually who would otherwise be queued up at the San Ysidro or Otay ports of entry. CBX users can cross south up to 24 hours before their flight, meaning ample time to stow bags and hit the town.
