Founded as a working ranch in the mid-1800s, Warner Springs Ranch opened as a resort in the 1920s and became well known for its therapeutic hot springs. The 2,500-acre property includes a 27,000-square-foot main lodge, 250 casita units, a 144-acre golf course, a 240-acre public trust cultural preserve, and other amenities for guests.
After being purchased by San Diego-based Pacific Hospitality Group in 2013, the Warner Springs Ranch Golf Club underwent a two-year renovation and reopened for play in November.
Fore the Record
Par 72
Yardage: 4,906–6,775 (With the course elevation at 3,000 feet, your ball goes farther—anywhere from half to full club difference. Who doesn’t like extra yardage?)
What’s new: A practice facility, renovated bunkers, new cart paths, 200 native trees added to the existing oaks and natural landscape, and a modified third hole that’s now a dogleg and includes a water feature. There’s also a remodeled clubhouse, with a new restaurant and bar with wine from neighboring vineyards.
Future developments: The multiphase makeover will eventually include the reopening of their natural hot springs, renovated resort, spa with holistic services, a vineyard with tasting rooms, formal dining, and more.
Going Green
The golf club cares about sustainability. In addition to sourcing water directly from their own wells instead of from the county, the Warner Springs Ranch Habitat and Cultural Conservancy works to conserve native species, including the Stephens’ kangaroo rat and the wild turkey.
