First Look: Mister A’s Reopens

Last year, the city’s restaurant in the sky was sold. Not to a multinational dining conglomerate. To Ryan Thorsen, the 34 year-old who for years worked by the side of longtime steward and Mister A’s owner Bertrand Hug. A role earned.

His question: How do you add some new life and ideas to an institution, without crushing the history and soul? You don’t buy a Picasso to turn it into a Banksy. Thorsen asked for a little help from Mauricio Courturier, an art-school designer who’s created some of San Diego’s most compelling rooms.

And this is the result. It unveils to the public Oct. 11. Content chief Troy Johnson and filmmaker Jeremy Sazon give you a first look inside.
