SDM Guide to Food + Drink: Cesarina

Published

Welcome to SDM’s Guide to Food + Drink, a series created to help you decide on where to eat in San Diego—curated by the team at San Diego Magazine.

Cesarina Mezzoni and Niccolo Angius both come to San Diego from Rome. Cesarina grew up watching her mom cook for the family three times a day, seven days a week.

As a kid, Nicollo basically lived in his family’s restaurants in Italy. In San Diego, the couple started serving fresh vegan pasta at farmers markets in 2017. Two years later, with partners and friends, they opened their first small brick-and-mortar in Point Loma.

This past winter, their partners and more friends helped them open a sister concept, Elvira, in Ocean Beach proper. It’s named after Niccolo’s grandmother. All goes right, we’ll be eating bucatini in restaurants all across the city named after various women in their lives.
