Make-A-Wish San Diego Makes Magic Happen for Local Kids

Magic was in the air at Make-A-Wish San Diego’s Wine & Wishes Gala on October 16. More than 400 guests attended the magic-themed black-tie event at the Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad to celebrate the transformative power of a wish. 

“A wish creates moments of hope and pure joy for a child dealing with illness. Wine & Wishes brings together a community that believes in the power of those moments,” says Suzanne Husby, CEO of Make-A-Wish San Diego. “We’re grateful to our generous sponsors, committee members, and guests who enable us to grant life-changing wishes for local kids when they need it most.”

During the event, the Silverwood family, whose daughter received a wish many years ago, were recognized for their continued support and were named this year’s Honorary Wish Family Chairs. Troy Johnson, publisher and chief content officer of San Diego Magazine, emceed the event and helped share the magic.

The Wine & Wishes Gala raised more than $1.4 million to help children’s wishes come true. Proceeds from the event will help grant 140 life-changing wishes for kids in San Diego County and Imperial Valley.
