Global issues come into full focus during Prix Pictet: Disorder, the sixth installment of the world-touring exhibit, which will show at the Museum of Photographic Arts this month after stops in Tokyo and Dublin. It’s the third time the Balboa Park museum has hosted the event, which celebrates images that draw attention to social and environmental issues. Each piece from this year’s Prix Pictet winner, French-born Valérie Belin, as well as 11 short-listed artists, examines a manifestation of disorder: everything from fleeing Somalian refugees and police riots in Ukraine to global warming’s devastating effects.

The exhibit, which includes an opening reception February 10, also features more artistic interpretations, such as Israeli photographer Ori Gersht’s Time After Time: Blow Up No. 5 (pictured), an exploded floral arrangement that illustrates the impermanence of beauty.
