Welcome back to Hot Blocks! Before we show you what homes are open this weekend, we’re bringing you to a famous house in Normal Heights that is now officially a local treasure.

Word on the Street

Keep it rockin

The landmark “Rock House” on Adams Avenue, a single-story home that was built in 1926, was just added to the city’s register of historic sites. Aside from the home’s age (it’s looking good for being 90!), the cobblestone façade is what gives it such curb appeal.

The house is near Ward Canyon Park, and records show that it was purchased in February 2015 for $600,000. The latest estimate says the three-bedroom, 1,440-square-foot house is now worth $705,000—which could increase thanks to its special designation.

Another week, another refurbished older home in North Park is put up for sale. But this three-bedroom house on Lincoln Avenue stands out: It spans nearly 1,500 square feet and is priced at $699,000, whereas this part of town can have homes as small as 900 square feet going for that rate (or higher).

It’s been hot out lately, but the fire pit in this backyard looks like it will be cozy soon, since summer is already almost over. This set up is on the 4,000-square-foot lot of a four-bedroom house over in San Marcos that’s selling for $689,900.

Talking about the heat makes us think of ways to cool off, and we found this home with a pool casita in a gated community out in Eastlake. It’s on a half-acre of land, too.
