Feeling like there’s a new brewery opening every weekend? Seeing craft beers pop up on restauarnt and bar menus everywhere? Yes, the local craft beer industry is still booming. A new report from the National University System Institute for Policy Research puts the economic impact of San Diego’s craft beer industry at a whopping $600 million. That includes things like jobs created, taxes collected, production, and research. It’s a greater economic impact to our city than a Super Bowl or Comic-Con. “To foster greater industry development, local elected officials and business community leaders should build more working relationships with breweries and brewpubs. Long-term, industry issues that will need to be addressed on the local level include water usage and land use policy,” said NUSIPR senior policy analyst Vince Vasquez.
