Ariana Collopy, 29, has always been a restless sleeper. So, when her boyfriend told her in early 2021 that she appeared to be having seizures in her sleep, she brushed it off. But over the next several months, her nighttime movements became more common. Then in October 2021, she had a tonic-clonic seizure and woke up in the emergency room. A family friend referred Collopy to a Scripps neurologist, who had her evaluated in the Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla Epilepsy Monitoring Unit.
