Las Patronas granted 11 local organizations more than $20,000 each during its annual Beneficiary Luncheon at The Marine Room. The grants were funded by the whopping $847,545 raised at their 72nd Jewel Ball, Viva la Vida last August. The first $300,000 went to Major Beneficiaries and the remaining funds went to the Minor Beneficiaries, who received grants of $20,000 or less.

“We are proud to provide funding for these very deserving San Diego nonprofit organizations,” says Michelle Wiseman, President of Las Patronas. “Each Las Patronas member is inspired by the difference these incredible organizations make in the lives of so many San Diegans. Many of our members say participating in grant applicant site visits is a highlight of being in Las Patronas because it offers an opportunity to learn more about the needs in our community.”

The Midway Foundation gave $10,000 to the San Diego Center for Children for its Empowered Families program. The program teaches families how to support a child dealing with a mental, emotional, or behavioral disorder and/or special needs. The San Diego Center for Children reaches more than 1,000 children and their families daily at eight sites as well as in San Diego County homes and schools.

California Western’s Community Law Project (CLP) has received a $7,500 grant from the San Diego County Bar Foundation. The grant will fund legal consultations and education for low-income San Diegans. It will also help to train attorneys at the five San Diego-area clinics.

“The Community Law Project is honored to once again be a recipient of funding from the San Diego County Bar Foundation,” says Dana Sisitsky, CLP’s Executive Director. “We are excited to use this funding to continue the work we do on behalf of low-income clients across San Diego County. We are also pleased to be able to offer many San Diego County Bar members an opportunity to give back to the San Diego community and welcome new volunteers who are interested in giving their time to clients in need.”
