Chef Susan Feniger Dinner

Susan Feniger’s ability to cook has been documented and tasted and raved about. Her Mexican concept, Border Grill, was such a hit that now she’s got restaurants all over LA and Vegas and a new one coming to Santa Monica. And now she’s coming to San Diego to cook in the relatively new gallery space attached to Little Italy’s Herb & Wood. She’ll partner with H&W’s executive chef, Brian Malarkey, for a five-course private meal with tray-passed appetizers and desserts from H&W’s pastry chef, Adrian Mendoza. Feniger and Malarkey will also put on a cooking demo. Ten percent of the admission proceeds will be donated to the Los Angeles LGBT Center.

Casa Noble Tequila Dinner with chef Travis Swikard

Where: C-Level, 880 Harbor Dr., Shelter Island
Travis Swikard is a local boy done good. After being raised in San Diego he departed for the grindhouse of NYC, and managed to win over one of the world’s most famous French chefs in Daniel Boulud. He served Mr. Boulud for a decade as his right-hand man. Now he’s moved back to San Diego and partnered with David Cohn and chef Deborah Scott to open his own restaurant here in the near future (they’re currently looking for spots). To give us a taste of what’s to come, he’ll cook a four-course meal at the on-the-water perch of C Level, with those obscene views of downtown over the water. Expect Korean beef tartare, olive-oil-poached Åra King salmon, charcoal-grilled rib eye, and cheesecake espuma. Plus, Casa Noble tequilas.

Blind Lady’s 10-Year Anniversary Shenanigans

Where: Blind Lady Ale House, 3416 Adams Avenue, Normal Heights
To make it ten years in the restaurant world these days is basically living to 100 as a human—a rare and exalted feat, every bit as exhausting and rewarding. And Blind Lady Ale House has managed to establish themselves as one of the most democratically inclined gourmet pizza joints in the city. Their 10-year celebrations will run for over a week and include a new release from their on-site brewery, Automatic Brewing, plus rare beer flights and their annual “Cape Run,” where fans and friends of the pizza punks run the streets from bar to bar wearing superhero capes as part of a group exercise bacchanal and beer tasting.
