Back 2 Ghoul: San Diego’s D&D Fundraiser Returns for a Chaotic Field Trip

Ladies of D&D San Diego presents the second annual Back 2 Ghoul, an all-day tabletop gaming fundraiser benefiting The Goblin Guild, a San Diego 501(c)(3) nonprofit that uses Dungeons & Dragons and tabletop play to build confidence, creativity, and teamwork in local kids and teens.

Back 2 Ghoul takes place Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Marina Village Conference Center, Bayview Room, 1936 Quivira Way, San Diego.

This year’s premise is a school field trip gone catastrophically wrong, reimagined through a goblin lens. The bus pulls up, the bell rings, and Ms. Frazzle needs help.

The event also marks a significant change in format. For the first time, every D&D table plays the same original in-house written adventure simultaneously, and what happens at any one table directly affects the outcome for the entire room.

You do not need to play to attend. A twenty dollar Hall Pass gets you in with no gameplay commitment. Hall Pass holders move freely through the space, shop the Student Store for in-game items and buffs that can help or hinder the players at any table, browse the silent auction, play board games, and enter the door prize drawing.

The day also features four tables of Magic: The Gathering Commander, and a Ghoul Lunch Box catered by Harvest Kitchen with cheeseburger, vegan fajita bowl, and gluten-friendly Mediterranean chicken bowl options. Lunch is included with every ticket, and five dollars from each meal is donated back to The Goblin Guild.

Everything D&D players need is provided, including character sheets, dice, pencils, and miniatures. Magic players bring their own Commander deck. Meal selection happens at checkout.

This is an 18+ public event. Tickets range from $20 to $100 and are available online only until sold out. Tickets are non-refundable. The event uses safety tools so every attendee feels comfortable
