It was Javier’s own journey to self-care that led her to launch Leo nail salon in North Park a few years ago. “Leo was this little dream I had of creating a self-care space that spoke to women who felt just the way I did—in need of a mini escape from my usual stress and worries, a true little haven to touch me emotionally.”
In her day to day, she practices self-care in little acts—sips of coffee, silent driving time, working out. “It’s a relationship with yourself. And as in any good relationship, it needs constant nurturing, care, and focus.” Living this mantra, it should be no surprise Javier sources gifts for others that’ll promote self-care in themselves. “A lot of my gifts are tools to make more of that time for yourself happen.”
Bar Soap
“I love that this soap company, Binu Binu, reminds me a little of my heritage. ‘Binu’ means ‘soap’ in Korean. And their Sweonggwa Persimmon bar soap is my favorite.” $20
Loose Leaf Tea & Bamboo Strainer
“Pair this June Home Supply tea strainer with Paru Tea’s white petal tea and even attach a note with it—something like ‘hoping you get a moment of peace each morning with your morning tea.’ I especially love that Paru is local.” Strainer $23; Tea $18–$29
Ear Seeds
“Vie Healing’s 24K Gold Ear Seeds are great for pressure-point healing you can do at home.” $34
Clay & Craft Wheel Lesson

Cork Massage Balls
“Halfmoon’s natural cork massage balls help eliminate those holiday stresses. I adore that this gift also promotes self-touch and self-massage. They’re also available at Leo.” $28, leobyliv3.com

“Native Poppy’s edible flower seed kit could encourage someone to spend time outdoors, and I love that these edible flowers make beautiful garnishes. It promotes eating the rainbow!” $42

“I’m not a huge fan of working out yet. But I find that when my workout gear is ‘pretty,’ like Bala’s Power Ring and Sora’s Flow towel, it gives me some motivation.” Weight $85; Towel $65

“Connected Goods’ Dried Flower Bowl puts a homemade spin on your giving, and it also allows you to be creative—add your own creation of a dried floral arrangement.” $75
