Michelin announced it is publishing a regional guide covering California and that San Diego restaurants will be included.


Mike Hess Brewing opened its new tasting room in Imperial Beach.


Sycuan Casino Resort unveiled a $260 million makeover, complete with three new dining concepts from Las Vegas–based Clique Hospitality: Bull & Bourbon (a high-end steakhouse), Elicit (craft cocktail lounge), and Retreat (pool bar).


The Red Fox Room at the Lafayette Hotel will remain open until the end of June before it moves to a new location on El Cajon Boulevard.


Ballast Point launched Ballast Point Lager, a craft beer that’s only 99 calories.


Louisiana Purchase debuted in North Park with a Cajun and Creole–themed menu and cocktails.


Himmelberg’s, a rock ’n’ roll–themed restaurant and bar with live music, opened in East Village.


Carnitas’ Snack Shack founders rebranded their pork-centric North Park eatery to the Porchetta Shack (and are no longer affiliated with the Embarcadero location).


Urban Solace in North Park and Solace & the Moonlight Lounge in Encinitas, both helmed by chef Matt Gordon, have shuttered. Gordon is now VP of operations at Blue Bridge Hospitality.


Neighborhood in East Village is closed for renovation. Noble Experiment, its famed speakeasy with a wall of golden skulls, remains open.
