Dig in to Flavor at Hanna’s Gourmet

By Stephanie Thompson

Fans of authentic ethnic food experiences, take note. The popular Normal Heights caterer Hanna’s Gourmet recently expanded into a full dining room, and now offers family meals on the third Thursday of each month. Owner Hanna Tefsamichael creates menus showcasing cuisines of different countries, and September’s dinner features specialties from her native Ethiopia—which means guests will be using the traditional injera bread to scoop and eat dishes like braised lamb, slow-simmered chicken, curried potatoes, and even lentil stew with their hands, Ethiopian-style. With two seatings, at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., you can come early or later—but be ready to dig in. Ethiopian family-style dinner, September 18, $30 per person. Call for reservations: 619-280-5600.
