City Councilman Mark Kersey met up with our photography crew downtown on the corner of Market and 5th on a warm 80 degree December day. That’s right, it was temperature high in the afternoon, the sun was blazing, he was dressed in a nice shoot and tie, and I wanted him to stand in fresh hot tar for a photo. I had a vision for his photograph in our January “10 Big Ideas for San Diego“ feature story. His big idea is to fix the backlog in the city’s infrastructure maintance and I wanted to photograph him in the middle of the street repair. He was a trooper and stepped right in, literally.
