1 Bestselling Novel Tee
You’ll be seeing a lot of the number 50 in the coming months. Yep: the Chargers’ Manti Te’o has the top-selling NFL rookie jersey, according to sales from April 1 to June 30, as reported by ESPN. We love it when the worlds of fashion and sports intersect, but will this translate to ticket sales?
2 Take Steps to Remember
At the annual San Diego 9-11 Memorial Stair Climb, participants climb 110 floors carrying the name and photograph of a fallen 9/11 emergency responder. This year, climbers will also hold the names of the 19 firefighters killed on June 30 in Arizona’s Yarnell Hill Fire. Sponsored by FirefighterAid, the 2013 event will take place on September 8 at the San Diego Hilton Bayfront. There will also be a moment of silence for Mike Lee of the Camp Pendleton Fire Department, who died July 22 at the age of 44. He rang the final alarm bell at the 2011 and 2012 Stair Climbs. sdfra.org

3 Hello, Redford
In an earlier issue, we wishfully called Baja the new Sundance, as Robert Redford was filming down south. Then Redford recently made an appearance at the Salk Institute in La Jolla to direct a segment for the docu-series Cathedrals of Culture. We love the A-list names visiting our city. Hey, now that Ryan Gosling has sworn off acting in order to direct, may we suggest he send a location scout here?

5 The Perfect Family
With 13 siblings, the Keith clan is the Von Trapp family of SD—only instead of making music, they make energy bars. Their company, Perfect Foods, is headquartered in the UTC area and churns out handmade gluten-free bars that include whole food supplements, peanut butter, and honey. The original recipe was created by the now-deceased patriarch, Dr. Bud Keith, who in the 1960s opened a gym and juice bar in Mission Beach. Eldest sib Bill, 30, runs the show, and everyone from San Diego 6’s Marc Bailey to Surfer’s Todd Glaser raves about the bars. Now available at Jimbo’s, Whole Foods, Henry’s, Sprouts, and other health food stores. perfectfoodsbar.com
