From novel to movie to musical, Big Fish makes its regional premiere September 9 at Moonlight Amphitheatre. The story, based on the Daniel Wallace book and 2003 Tim Burton film, follows the evolution of a strained father-son relationship—with some fantastical touches. William Bloom has a hard time believing his father’s seemingly exaggerated yarns about monsters, giant goldfish, and secret villages, but when the elder Bloom falls ill, William returns to his side and realizes that his father’s tales aren’t so tall as they seem. Directed by Steven Glaudini, the performance takes place under the stars at the Vista venue, an appropriately dreamy setting for the whimsical story. September 9–26 at Moonlight Amphitheatre, Vista
