Electric Ocean Returns to SeaWorld San Diego

The summertime celebration lights up the park with entertainment after dark

By Jordan Lemke

For a second summer, SeaWorld San Diego is getting lit with its all-ages celebration, Electric Ocean. Inspired by the ocean’s bioluminescent creatures, the after-dark affair has a luminous lineup of entertainment. The park’s roller coasters gain psychedelic light and laser effects to become Manta re/CHARGED and Atlantis Ignites, there’s room to party in Club Current, and the illumiNight show has a sea-inspired cast of acrobatic and electronic dance performers.

But it’s the show over Mission Bay that’ll put stars in your eyes. Cirque Electrique features trapeze stunts, 30-foot-high glowing hydro-flights, and new this year, a freestyle performance by watercraft champion Mark Gomez. Turns out the sea lions aren’t the only ones with tricks.
