On May 16, thousands of San Diegans will take to two wheels for their commute to work. With perfect cycling weather and an abundance of bike paths, San Diego is a prime place to celebrate Bike to Work Day—and the city is getting in the spirit.
(And you might as well, considering San Diego is the most bike-friendly American city with more than 1 million residents, according to Places for Bikes, the most comprehensive city bicycling ranking.)
Pedal-powered commuters can expect an abundance of moral support, as well as free swag at several pit stops around the city, packed with snacks and drinks (electrolytes, people!) as well as knowledgeable folks who can help adjust a brake or fix a leaky tube.
In North Park, cyclists will be gifted a free Bluetooth speaker by posting selfies tagged with #Bike2WorkNorthPark from the following locations: Stubborn Goat Bike Shop, North Park Bikes, Tamarindo, Bivouac Ciderworks, North Park Thursday Market, and West Coast Tavern.
SANDAG is celebrating by offering free t-shirts to any cyclist who registers.
At the headquarters prescription sports eyewear company Sportrx, roll by for coffee, donuts, raffle prizes, and more from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Their address is 5076 Santa Fe St.
