Let the Sparks Fly It’s a pyrotechnic party over the bay when San Diego’s 18th annual fireworks display returns for Independence Day. Up to 500,000 people are expected to head to the water’s edge—and vessel owners to raft together beyond it—for Big Bay Boom, hailed as Southern California’s largest fireworks show and among the top 10 in the nation by USA Today.
12,000 shells are slated to burst starting at 9 p.m., launching from four barges for an approximately 18-minute choreographed light show set to music on The Mighty 1090 AM and 105.7 Max FM radio stations. You can take in the spectacle from Shelter Island, Harbor Island, North Embarcadero, the Marina District, or Coronado Ferry Landing. But if you’ve got one, we think the best views are from the actual float-your-boat approach. Let freedom (and your ears) ring!
