First Look: Far Corner Pizza in East Village

Opening in the iconic former home of Basic Pizza, right by Petco Park… this is Far Corner.

Here, chef/owner Maxwell Senescall—who worked in Daniel Boulud and Andrew Carmellini’s kitchens, then locally at Juniper & Ivy and Mastiff Sausage Company—will reimagine California-style pizza. Think creative toppings and odes to famous pies, like a pie accented with golden fennel and mustard sauce or a barbecue pizza with tri-tip. He’s got Frederico Santos from Square Pizza as a pizza and dough consultant, and Tony Coxum (The Grass Skirt, Searsucker) is heading the bar program.
