20 Years of Fun in San Diego!

Volo San Diego, Formerly VAVi, started in 2002 as a way for a few friends from the east coast to find ways to play beach volleyball instead of work. Over the years VAVi grew throughout San Diego County adding all of the traditional sports you love like Softball, Basketball, Football and Soccer to the sports you forgot you love like Dodgeball, Kickball, and even Inner Tube Water Polo. As the VAVi community grew so did what VAVi offered! Through the years VAVi has been known in San Diego to throw awesome events like Del Mar Opening Day, The New Years Eve Beach Party, The Del Mar Mud Run, The Electric Run 5k, and The R.O.C. Race.

It’s hard to find a San Diego Native in town but it’s even harder to find someone who hasn’t heard of VAVi as a great way to make friends and have fun in America’s Finest City. Like most social and active things VAVi was completely shut down in 2020 with a very bleak outlook on its future.

In April of 2021 Volo Sports, headquartered in Baltimore, purchased VAVi and started to bring fun back to San Diego! Through the Volo Sports Brand, Volo San Diego has become more social adding in Cornhole leagues at Mavericks in Pacific Beach, Pure Project in Balboa Park, and Stone Brewery in Liberty Station, as well as Bocce Leagues and Social Kickball Leagues and Tournaments. The VAVi brand will never completely leave San Diego and you can still see beach goers wearing their VAVi shirts and tank tops wherever they go. Learn more about how to add more fun in your life at www.volosports.com or by downloading the Volo Sports app in the App Store or Google Play Store.

The Volo San Diego team isn’t only bringing fun back to San Diego but is also focused on giving back to the community. In every city Volo runs adult leagues they also give back through The Volo Kids Foundation. This foundation creates free youth sport leagues for children of the local community. Volo San Diego has already partnered with local Recreation Centers as well as the San Diego Unified School District to bring these programs to San Diego.
