Epic Bonding Through Fitness

San Diegans get together for a friendly competition

By Hilary Achauer

Why be ordinary when you can be epic?

A functional fitness obstacle course called the Epic Series is coming to San Diego on Saturday, April 11, at Liberty Station. Combining the best of cross training and boot camps, with levels suitable for everyone from beginner to beast, the Epic Series also features a free fitness festival with vendors, craft beer, food trucks, and a kids’ zone.

Compete as an individual or a team—there are prizes for the fastest team as well as the team with the most members. The team competition is a great activity for corporate groups, gyms, or even a group of fit friends.

The course has about 12 obstacles with different levels (including an additional elite challenge), so competitors of different abilities can run the same course. Entry fees range from $65 to $95, with free entry for spectators.
