Around 600 animal lovers got dressed to the nines and walked down the red carpet with their furry friends for the San Diego Humane Society’s 29th annual Fur Ball. The gala raises funds for the organization’s programs to end euthanasia of homeless pets, rehabilitate injured wildlife, investigate animal cruelty, and help pets stay with their families. This year’s theme, “Vines, Wines and Canines,” raised a record-breaking $700,000. Guests enjoyed a dinner prepared by chef Jeffrey Strauss, owner of Pamplemousse Grille in Del Mar, a photo booth where they could pose with their pets (more than 200 dogs were in attendance), live auctions, and dancing. The Akaloa Resource Foundation and Phil Pace, founder of Phil’s BBQ, were honored for their contributions to animal welfare in the community.
