Funds from the gala supported the DNA New Work Series, which helps budding playwrights develop their script with workshops, rehearsal time, and public presentation.

The Impact
Last fall, the program launched the world premiere of Broadway actor Michael Benjamin Washington’s new play, Blueprints to Freedom: An Ode to Bayard Rustin, which delves into the life of a civil rights leader. Artistic Director Christopher Ashley said the Playhouse was thrilled to foster this emerging artist.
