Preventing PAD

More than 200 million people worldwide suffer from a hardening of the arteries known as peripheral arterial disease (PAD). In the United States, it affects roughly 1 in 20 people over the age of 50. Caused by a narrowing of the arteries in the legs, arms, kidneys or neck due to buildup of fatty deposits and calcium, PAD not only causes pain and difficulty walking, it also corresponds with an increased risk of heart attack and stroke.
