On Red Shoe Day (June 21), hundreds of volunteers at nearly 200 intersections across the county collected money for San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House. Approximately $225,000 in total donations came from morning commuters as well as through online fundraising, matching gifts, corporate sponsorships, and contributions made at local McDonald’s restaurants. Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego provides a “home away from home” for families with a child being treated in a San Diego-area hospital.
