More than 500 art aficionados turned out to support the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego at its annual fundraiser, The Gala at MCASD, on September 9. Guests were treated to a preview of the museum’s recent acquisition, Time Twine (California Poppy), by Los Angeles artist Kelly Akashi, before it joined a special exhibition of her work. Attendees also enjoyed a four-course dinner inspired by the exhibition, Kelly Akashi: Formations, live music, activations, and an afterparty that featured a karaoke speakeasy, temporary tattoos, and more.
