Clowning around has never looked so glamourous. More than 500 guests showed off their finest carnival-chic looks at The New Children’s Museum’s Circus Spectacular gala November 5. The festivities included entertainment from jugglers, stilt walkers, a tightrope walker, and a silk aerialist, tunes from 80s cover band BetaMAXX, and a 40-foot lighted Ferris wheel with stunning views of the downtown skyline. Attendees also got to experience the museum’s signature installations, including Teatro Piñata, which doubled as a pop-up karaoke studio. The event raised more than $750,000 for programs that support free or discounted admission.
“The incredible turnout and record funds raised at this year’s event demonstrates the tremendous community support of The New Children’s Museum and belief in the importance of providing access to art for all children in San Diego,” said Elizabeth Yang-Hellewell, executive director and CEO of The New Children’s Museum.
