Executive Chef/Director William Bradley of Addison at The Grand Del Mar has been named the winner of Robb Report’s second annual Culinary Masters Competition. Bradley was nominated for this competition by master chef Thomas Keller. “We’re thrilled that our talented Chef William Bradley won this prestigious honor,” said Thomas Voss, president of The Grand Del Mar.

The Watoto Children’s Choir traveling from Africa kicked-off their six month U.S. tour in Queen Creek, AZ on Dec. 14 and continued with several performances in San Diego through Jan. 19. The Children’s Choir acts as Watoto ambassadors to raise awareness about the plight of the orphaned and vulnerable children of Africa.

Feeding America San Diego raised 1,594,613 meals in partnership with ABC10, sister station Azteca San Diego 15 and Live Well San Diego as part of its inaugural  Month of a Million Meals campaign. The 2013 holiday initiative included local events, a live donation telecast and designated drop-off locations at Ralphs and Food4Less stores countywide. “The impact of the Month of a Million meals campaign on our community is enormous,” said Executive Director Jennifer Gilmore of Feeding America San Diego. Support also came from MOGL who presented a $30,000 check to FASD as part of the donation day on Dec. 17.

The second annual Café Coyote Historic Old Town Golf Classic is scheduled for Mar. 17 at the Salt Creek Golf Course in Chula Vista. Billy Casper, a PGA Hall of Fame golfer and children’s advocate, is scheduled to attend as the celebrity guest. The tournament raises funds to help local fourth grade students participate in the Old Town Fourth Grade History Program. The tournament, “Green on the Green,” features a helicopter ball drop. Café` Coyote is the Title Sponsor and Fiesta de Reyes is the 2014 Dinner Sponsor.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency awarded $461,368 for environmental projects along the U.S.-Mexico Border. The funds will be matched by an additional $354,746 in funding from the recipient organizations. The funds will be used towards reducing trash in the Tijuana River, Vehicle emissions reduction strategies, recycling materials, and developing educational projects. The bi-national project was funded by the San Diego Foundation and EPA’s Border 2020 through a grant to 4walls International.

J.R. Martinez, Dancing with the Stars winner and a U.S. Army veteran was the emcee for the Greater San Diego Association of Realtors 2014 Installation Dinner on Jan. 11 when Leslie Kilpatrick was installed as President. The gala was held at the USS Midway Museum. Martinez was deployed to Iraq while serving in the U.s. Army and was severely injured by a roadside bomb. He spent three years in recovery. SDAR and the Ambassadors Foundation welcomed Martinez as part of their mission to assist the San Diego military community to achieve the dream of home ownership. This effort includes continued outreach and education on Veterans Affairs home loans and down payment assistance programs.

Henry Schein, Inc. has pledged $25,000 in health care product donations over the next two years to North County Health Services. Henry Schein Cares, a social responsibility program of Henry Schein, Inc. will enable North County Health Services to more effectively carry out its mission to improve the health status of San Diego diverse communities by providing quality healthcare that is comprehensive, affordable, and culturally sensitive and expand its ability to provide care to low-income, uninsured/underinsured adults and children in northern San Diego County.

San Diego Women in Blue, a program of the San Diego Police Foundation is being held on Mar. 5 at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel. Verizon, eset, Wells Fargo and Walmart are the sponsors of the event which will recognize three women with outstanding achievements in non-traditional careers who have paved the way for women leaders in San Diego.
