St. Germaine Children’s Charity hosted its signature fundraising event, the Silver Tea, December 6 at the La Jolla home of Dr. Erv and Laura Wheeler. The seaside venue, a stone’s throw from the Torrey Pines Gliderport—so close in fact that gliders could be seen soaring overhead—was adorned with holiday finery inside and out, complete with holiday carolers.
The event’s some 400 guests were treated to wine, champagne, coffee, and tea, plus finger sandwiches and holiday goodies made by National Charity League.
St. Germaine Children’s Charity’s popular Silver Tea raises money to support child abuse prevention programs throughout San Diego County. Guests were invited to bid on gift baskets, goods and services from local businesses, trips, and more, and also place monetary donations into the nonprofit’s iconic silver bowl, a fixture at the Silver Tea since it’s inception.
Since St. Germaine Children’s Charity was founded in 1984, the nonprofit has contributed $4.8 million toward preventing abuse of homeless children, trafficked children, foster children, victims of domestic violence, and children with disabilities.
