Raising the Bar for Healthy Snacks

An NFL alum and former Miss California bring a new superfood bar to San Diego

By Archana Ram

Eating healthy is ideal, but sometimes just being able to squeeze in a workout warrants a gold star. That’s why we’re loving PhiveBar, the new organic snack launched by former Oakland Raider Kyle Boller and his wife, Miss California 2009 Carrie Prejean. The Encinitas-based couple got the idea to create a nutrient-dense bar after seeing the positive impact of an organic diet on Carrie’s father, who was diagnosed with stage 4 oropharyngeal cancer in 2012. Part of his holistic regimen included a natural recipe consisting of fruits, nuts, and seeds. The Bollers noticed how healthy it made them feel, too. So they tweaked the recipe, and PhiveBar was born.

The 240-calorie snack—available in original, blueberry, and peanut flavors—is made with organic, non-GMO ingredients and measured following the phi ratio, mathematics’ “golden ratio” that also occurs frequently in nature and is thought to be optimal for consumption. Eat now; your body can thank you later.

$3 each, available at Sprouts, Beaming La Jolla and Del Mar, and phivebar.com
