California is covered in beautiful coastlines and rugged terrain. One of the most popular spots in all of Southern California is the amazing and diverse city of San Diego. San Diego is a bustling city full of shopping, restaurants, outdoor activities, and of course breathtaking beaches. While San Diego is a city that offers it all, living in a big city isn’t for everyone.
This is why a lot of people choose to move to San Diego, which offers a sense of laid-back coastal living, but is still close enough to San Diego for work, travel, and even day trips.
Nestled in 1.7 miles of beautiful coastline is the breathtaking city of Solana Beach. Solana Beach is located 22 miles north of San Diego allowing enough space for a small-town feel but being close enough to the big city. The easiest way to travel to and from Solana Beach and San Diego is the train which takes roughly around 24 minutes, making this an easy location for commuting.
Solana Beach offers the perfect mixture of a laid-back coastal town feel, while still being close to shops, restaurants, and attractions. Whether you enjoy surfing, swimming, or just taking in the beautiful sights of the Solana Beach cliffs there is something for everyone. When it comes to real estate, Solana Beach offers it all. Whether you are a family looking for a single-family home with amenities such as a swimming pool, or a couple looking for a condo or apartment, Solana Beach has no shortage of real estate that offers upscale living.
One of the most popular places to live in Solana Beach is the Cedros Design District. This beautiful district showcases Solana Beach’s unique vibe displaying art, architecture, and amazing shops and restaurants. Solana Beach is so excited to welcome you home!
Located about 20 miles north of San Diego is the beautiful town of Del Mar. Del Mar is known for its pristine beaches that offer something for everyone. Torrey Pines State Park offers an amazing location for surfing, swimming, and fishing, while on the other side of Del Mar the Del Mar dog beach offers a specific beach for taking a romp in the ocean with your furry friends. Del Mar is also a great commuter location without living in San Diego.
The coastal commuter train has a stop right in Del Mar offering about a 20-minute travel time into the city. Del Mar is a great location for whatever you and your family are looking for. Whether you are a full outdoors person and want to be close to mountains and hiking trails, or you want to be close to retail shops and restaurants, Del Mar can offer both. Experience peace of mind knowing that Del Mar is a safe community with friendly neighbors and a never-ending list of attractions.
Oceanside ranks amongst the top suburbs of San Diego with 8 public beaches along 3 miles of coastline. Oceanside is perfect for outdoor enthusiasts with its popular surf spots and an abundance of parks and hiking locations. Most notable is the 394 acres that make up Guajome Regional Park. This park offers hiking, camping, fishing, and horseback riding. Another famous attraction of Oceanside is the Sunset Market.
This is an outdoor market every Thursday night year-round that offers local vendors and live music through the streets of downtown Oceanside. This is a great event to bring the community together. One of the best perks of living in Oceanside is the proximity to San Diego. Transportation is great along the coast to San Diego and is easy to reach for your daily commute, quick day trip, or to the San Diego International Airport.
Carlsbad is the perfect family-friendly community. One of the most notable perks of living in Carlsbad is the excellent public school system. Carlsbad schools are ranked at the very top when it comes to schooling in America. One of the most exciting family-friendly attractions that Carlsbad has to offer is the famous Legoland. Legoland is action-packed with a full theme park and a water park offering endless fun for all ages.
Carlsbad is also full of museums, parks, aquariums, and of course, beaches that are perfect for families. With its consistently low crime rates, Carlsbad offers a safe community for those who want quick access to San Diego but also want to live out of the city.
La Jolla is the best location if you are a person who can’t stay out of the water. One of the best beaches is La Jolla Shores Beach. This beach is a flat stretch of coastline with no rugged cliffs or rocks to make your way through making this a great family location. Swimming and private surfing lessons are offered along this beach if you want to perfect your skills. La Jolla offers several options when it comes to education, such as public, private, and charter.
The public schools are known for being incredibly nurturing and enriching, but if you are looking for something a little different there is no shortage of prestigious private schools to choose from. When it comes to real estate La Jolla offers the top upscale listings. Whether it’s a single-family home with amenities such as a private pool or a townhouse or condo in new developments, La Jolla has no shortage of great real estate.

Tips from the trusted experts at Mauzy Cooling, Heating, Plumbing, and Electrical
San Diego summers can be brutal. But since the hottest period is typically late summer into early fall, San Diegans still have time to prepare. The pros at Mauzy Cooling, Heating, Plumbing, and Electrical are standing by to help homeowners fortify their homes against the elements and ensure their air conditioning is as frosty as the penguins that serve as the company’s mascots.
Many homeowners underestimate the load their AC system faces, especially in the inland valleys where temperatures regularly top 100 degrees. San Diego regularly sees multi-day heatwaves each summer, and a system that struggles on the first day will likely fail by the third. Longer run times, unusual sounds or smells, and uneven cooling from room to room are all signs that your system may not survive the next hot spell.
Systems typically last 12 to 17 years, but there are exceptions. If a system is approaching that, or is already there, a professional evaluation is recommended before summer really heats up. A good rule of thumb: If you can’t remember when your system was last serviced, it’s due.
“As technology changes, systems become smarter and smarter,” says Sean O’Connor, an install manager at Mauzy with 42 years of experience. “There are a lot of people out there who will say a system’s only good for 10 years. I don’t buy that—these systems are built to last as long as they’re taken care of.”
There are also a few steps homeowners can take between services to extend the life of their system. Regularly changing a dirty filter—especially if you have kids or pets—and keeping an outdoor unit clean can help head off problems in the future, says O’Connor.
Also, be realistic about whether it’s time to replace a unit. O’Connor likens pouring money into salvaging a faulty unit with patchwork repairs and replacement parts to “tripping over a dollar to pick up a dime.” When one part fails, others are sure to follow, and newer parts may not be compatible with older units. Mauzy recommends homeowners use the 50% rule: If a repair costs more than 50% of the system’s replacement value, and the equipment is over 10 years old, replacement is usually the better long-term value. And don’t forget the ducting. An older house that was built with heat and later had air conditioning added may not have sufficient airflow, regardless of how good the system is.
Last but not least, homeowners should know who to trust when it comes to their homes. Built on three generations of professional integrity, Mauzy has grown into not just a leader for cooling, heating, plumbing, and electrical services, but a leader in the community known for supporting local nonprofits across an array of causes. To ensure complete peace of mind, Mauzy stands behind a comprehensive 12-point guarantee that outlines its commitment to outstanding service, quality equipment, expert technicians who understand how the local microclimates affect HVAC performance, and no upsells or surprises on the bill.
“We go the extra mile. That’s what sets us apart,” O’Connor says. To get a free quote today, visit mauzy.com.
