Lifetime Achievement Criteria
This award spotlights an individual who has maintained a lifelong commitment of service to their profession and has impacted the San Diego County community by his or her volunteer efforts beyond the scope of his/her day-to-day work commitments.
Criteria:
Please explain how the candidate’s 25+ years of professional experience reflect the following:
- Impact/Measurability: How has the nominee made a positive impact on the community?
- Peer Review: How is the nominee perceived by his/her peers?
- Personal integrity: Does the nominee have high moral standards and integrity?
- Charitable Contributions/Volunteer Work: Beyond the scope of their professional work, what charitable causes does the nominee support or participate in?
- Leadership: What unique skills or attributes does the nominee possess that make him/her an outstanding leader?
- Challenges/Perseverence: What obstacles has the nominee overcome, both personal and professional?
- Professional Success: Has the nominee reached a pinnacle of his or her profession or industry?
- Impact/Measurability: What metrics can be shared that illuminate the nominee’s contributions over his/her lifetime?
*Contributions, achievement and successes need to be clearly enumerated in years.
Who is eligible?
Nominees must be outstanding members of the community who are at least part Latino and a resident of San Diego County who have at a minimum of 25 plus years of service to the community.
Who can nominate?
Any individual, 18 years or older, is eligible to nominate a candidate.
Nomination or Submission Deadline: Nominations must be received by Monday, August 18, 2014.
Award Committee: The award committee will be comprised of the Advisory Boards and previous year’s honorees.
Method of Selecting Award Recipient: The award committee will use a rating scale based on the criteria outlined on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest rating.
Cross Border Leader Criteria
This award recognizes an individual who owns a thriving business or entity in San Diego and Baja California that creates meaningful impact in communities both sides of the border.
Criteria:
Please explain how the candidate’s contributions and success reflects the following:
- Cross Border Advocate: How is the nominee a champion and advocate for strengthening and improving U.S. relations with Mexico ?
- Leadership: What unique skills or attributes does the nominee possess that make him/her an outstanding leader?
- Personal Integrity: Does the nominee have high moral standards and ethics?
- Community Impact: How has this nominee created meaningful impact on both sides of the border? Is the nominee responsible for job creation and growth?
- Challenges/Perseverence: What obstacles has the nominee overcome, both personal and professional?
- Charitable Contributions/Volunteer Work: Beyond the scope of their professional work, what charitable causes does the nominee support or participate in?
- Creative/Innovative: How has the nominee been creative or innovative in their problem solving in terms of government buracracey, and working with with two distinct cultures? How does the nominee seamlessly navigate doing business on both sides of the border?
- Inspirational: How does the nominee inspire others? Does he/she lead by example?
- Impact/Measurability: What metrics can be shared to illuminate the nominee’s success as a business leader?

Who is eligible?
Nominees must be outstanding members of the community who are at least part Latino and a resident of San Diego County or Baja California. The nominee’s business or entity must be located in San Diego County and Baja California, and the impact from the business or entity must be able to be measured in both San Diego and Baja California.
Who can nominate?
Any individual, 18 years or older, is eligible to nominate a candidate.

Entrepreneur of the Year Criteria
This award recognizes entrepreneurs who inspire others with their vision, leadership and achievement.
Criteria:

- Entrepreneurial Spirit: What obstacles has the nominee overcome that can be attributed to their success?
- Leadership: What unique skills or attributes does the nominee possess that make him/her an outstanding leader?
- Innovation/Creation/Technology: Has the nominee used technology and/or creative and innovative processes to advance their business , and in what way?
- Humanitarian/Social Enterprise: Does their business benefit mankind or the environment?
- Community Impact: Has their business contributed to job creation and improved the standard of living for his/her employees?
- Personal Integrity: Does the nominee have high moral standards and ethics?
- Challenges/Perseverence: What obstacles has the nominee overcome?
- Charitable Contributions/Volunteer Work: Beyond the scope of their work, what charitable causes does this person support or participate in.
- Financial Performance: What does the balance sheet say?

Who is eligible?
Nominees must be outstanding members of the community who are at least part Latino and a resident of San Diego County or Baja California. The nominee’s business (i.e. Sole proprietorship, corporation or limited partnership) must be based in San Diego County and at least 5 years old (established before July 1, 2009).

Any individual, 18 years or older, is eligible to nominate a candidate.

Inspirational Leader Criteria
This award recognizes an individual who is a dynamic and passionate leader who has a positive influence on others and works tirelessly for causes near and dear to his/her heart.

- Leadership: What unique skills or attributes does the nominee possess that make him/her an inspirational leader demonstrating strategy, passion, and success of others?
- Enthusiasm and Passion: How has the nominee’s profound love and commitment to their work (professional or charitable) affected others?
- Challenges/Perseverce: How does the nominee overcome daunting and challenging obstacles?
- Inspirational: How does the nominee motivate and encourage others to take on more responsibility when resources (i.e. labor, time, money) are scarce?
- Personal Integrity: Does the nominee have high moral standards and ethics?
- Community Impact: How does the nominee make a difference in the lives of others?
- Charitable Contributions/Volunteer Work: Beyond the scope of their professional work, what charitable causes does the nominee support or participate in?
- Impact/Measurability: What metrics can be shared that illuminate the nominee’s success?

Volunteer of the Year Criteria
This honor is awarded to an outstanding individual in recognition of his or her impactful service and special contributions to the Latino community as well as other community, civic or charitable organizations.
Criteria:
Please explain how the nominee’s scope of work and volunteer achievements reflect the following:
- Leadership: How has the nominee galvanized support for their cause/organization? Did they act solely alone or were others involved?
- Personal Integrity: Does the nominee have high moral standards and ethics?
- Fortitude: Does the nominee’s service/commitment to the cause/project go above and beyond what was required?
- Innovation and creativity: How has the nominee implemented creative solutions to solve their problem(s)?
- Challenges/Perseverence: What obstacles has the nominee overcome?
- Role Model: Is the nominee inspirational and encouraging to others?
- Humanitarian/Social Enterprise: Does the nominee’s work benefit mankind or the environment?
- Impact/Measurability: Does the nominee’s record reflect a sustained level of top performance over an extended period of time? How did their work impact the community?

Who is eligible?
Anyone who has created meaningful impact by elevating a local charity, civic or community organization through service and dedication is eligible to be nominated. Nominees must be at least part Latino and a resident of San Diego County or Baja California.
Who can nominate?
Any individual or organization is entitled to nominate any number of volunteers.
Nomination or Submission Deadline: Nominations must be received by Monday, August 18, 2014.
Award Committee: The award committee will be comprised of the Advisory Boards and previous year’s honorees.
Method of Selecting Award Recipient: The award committee will use a rating scale based on the criteria outlined on a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest rating.
