On March 13, the Downtown San Diego Partnership’s annual Create the Future Awards brought together civic and business leaders to spotlight the people, projects, and initiatives shaping the future of the city’s urban core. Held as both a celebration and a fundraiser, the evening featured the debut of a powerful short film produced by Intesa Communications and Uptown 11 Studios that showcased the impact of the foundation’s homelessness outreach and community-building efforts.
Seven awards were presented, including the Founders Award to civic leader Nikki Clay, the Create the Future Award to the San Diego Symphony’s Jacobs Music Center, and the Humanitarian Award to Paul Downey of Serving Seniors. Other honorees included DA Summer Stephan, Bay to Park Paseo, the Port of San Diego’s environmental stewardship programs, and small business FeeLIT Records.
A portion of the night’s proceeds supported the Downtown San Diego Partnership Foundation’s outreach work, including reconnecting more than 3,500 people with family through its Family Reunification Program. The evening helped exceed a $10,000 on-site fundraising goal.
