AbandonmenTissues

About the Event

AbandonmenTissues is art project born out of a personal concern, which is then transformed into an artistic and social proposal. Alvaro Alvarez, an artist in San Ysidro, California, lives and works every day with the impact of a binational issue: shared environmental responsibility. Rather than dwell in indignation, he decided to turn his concern into a creative drive. His work is made entirely from upcycled materials collected from the region – bottles, metals, plastics, and all kinds of discarded objects which, through his artistic intervention, are transformed into sculptural works full of visual and tactile power.

Alvaro proposes that objects often perceived as trash can become beautiful, representing a powerful message: problems are also opportunities. The exhibition does not aim to pass judgement or point fingers. Its purpose, rather, is to inspire: just as Alvaro found in recycling a personal way to take action, each visitor can discover their own creative path towards transforming their worries into something special.
