The Foundation for Animal Care and Education has turned its popular Bags & Baubles shopping fundraiser into a full-time online boutique selling high-end fashion finds to raise money for lifesaving veterinary care. FACE’s Wag n’ Purr Shop features donated new and gently used handbags, jewelry, accessories, pet items, and more, with all proceeds benefiting the organization.
FACE works to fight “economic euthanasia” with financial grants for cash-strapped pet owners in need of emergency veterinary care, and they’ve enlisted the help of local pet hospitals willing to discount prices for eligible services. The nonprofit has saved the lives of nearly 3,000 pets since it was founded in 2006.

Episcopal Community Services has announced that it will host a first-ever hybrid version of its annual Making Miracles Gala. Supporters who wish to attend in person will gather at Coasterra on April 10 for entertainment, giveaways, and fun. Guests who choose to enjoy the old Hollywood glamour–themed gala from the comfort of their own homes have the option of purchasing a Coasterra meal-and-drinks package to be delivered, or simply tuning in to the YouTube stream. Proceeds will go toward ECS programs that address mental health, child development, substance use disorders, and homelessness.
“After having to take our gala virtual last year, we are thrilled to be able to come together both in person and virtually this year to celebrate the impact of ECS in our community,” said gala cochairs Marie Tuthill, Kathy Fremdling, and Leta Keyes. “While it looks a little different this year, we remain committed to supporting all people to reach their full potential.”

The American Red Cross is hosting a series of blood drives around San Diego to bolster supplies as the pandemic wears on. Patients in the emergency room, fighting cancer, or coping with a life-threatening illness often rely on donated blood. The Red Cross is asking San Diegans to make an appointment to donate—especially those with Type O blood. Donations of blood, platelets, and plasma will be tested for COVID-19 antibodies, which as convalescent plasma transfusions can help patients who are currently fighting the virus.
