The musical chair of what-was-formerly-Cavaillon continues. The Santa Luz location, made notable by French chef Philippe Verpiand, has just been bought by the owners of Rosina’s Italian Restaurant who plan to open their second Rosina’s any day now. Rosina and her family are serial restaurateurs, opening When in Rome in Encinitas almost 30 years ago, then Salvatore’s Cucina Italiana in Downtown, Café Luna in Rancho Bernardo and Carmine’s Pizzeria in Oceanside. They’ve also got locations of Salvatore’s and Rosina’s in Sun Valley, Idaho, plus Castello Delle Serre in Serre di Rapolano, Italy. So the family knows a thing or two about authentic Italian food. The Rosina’s in Santa Luz will be nearly the same as the location in Oceanside. Mama Rosina will run the kitchen with the help of her two sons, Giancarlo and Gianfranco.
