An Interactive Home Funeral Experience

About the Event

In loving remembrance of our fictional friend Grace, we invite you to join us for a heartfelt and intimate MOCK home funeral. This will be an engaging and interactive event where everyone can participate and immerse themselves in the experience of ancestral death-care practices, enjoy a grief-focused sound bath and meditation, and explore creative grief releasing activities.

We know, this isn’t your typical Saturday night activity! Crafting a meaningful end-of-life experience is something that family and friends can participate in, and having a home funeral is one way to honor a life well lived. Community death care should be accessible to all, it’s the way we used to care for our dead before the modern funeral industry became the standard. This interactive event is meant to showcase an end of life experience that reflects an authentically lived life.

What will you be experiencing at this evening of contemplating death and grief?

7:00 – 7:45 You’ll be invited into the home funeral of Grace where you can immerse yourself in a realistic representation of a funeral held at home, complete with a shrouded body and creative grief activities to help process emotions. Grief activities include meditation with a sound bath, crafting a burial mala necklace and sharing a memory on a remembrance tree. Participate as much or as little as you’d like.
7:45 – 8:15 We’ll transition into a Q&A session where you can ask anything and everything about home funerals with our panel of Death Doulas and a Funeral Director.
8:15 – 9:00 Our Death Doulas will demonstrate basic body care, end-of-life rituals and the sacred practice of shrouding.
