Are you looking for cute pumpkin patches and apple picking places in San Diego? Google says you are, by the thousands. We track what kind of searches direct people to our website, and every year about this time, we start to see searches peaking for things like local pumpkin patches, harvest festivals and “where can I pick apples with kids on weekends near San Diego, CA”
Don’t worry, we can’t see much else about you (other than you zip code, mobile device carrier, and in some cases gender and general interests – yikes, I know!) and really, what it does is help us decide what we can either write or find to help you live better in this lovely town of ours. So here are some great resources to find all your favorite “Fall in San Diego” stuff: apple picking, mulled wine, pie, pumpkin patches, Halloween parties and more.
Pick your Pumpkins
Here’s our running list of great San Diego Pumpkin patches. The content team at the San Diego Tourism Authority also has a great list of pumpkin patches.
Suzie’s Farm
Suzie’s Farm is also a great place to visit anytime of year, but especially in the fall. You’ve missed their fabulous autumnal equinox dinner but there’s plenty more happening in October. Check out their calendar of events or sign up for a farm tour.
Pumpkin Carving Contest
The Pearl Hotel in Point Loma is hosting an annual pumpkin carving contest on October 28th. The event is free—pumpkins included—but space is limited. Visit The Pearl’s website for more info and to RSVP.
Apple Picking in Pictures
The Life and Food Blog has a nice roundup of an apple picking experience in Julian from a few years ago. The blog’s author Kristin recently started contributing to San Diego Magazine and has a great touring series in Baja.
5 More to Try
The Red Tricycle folks also have a nice roundup of 5 places to go pick apples in Julian.
More Pick Your Own
If you want the big list of everything, go here. It’s a bit hard ot read, but it’s a comprehensive list of all the “pick your own” places in San Diego County, from berries to pumpkins.
Don’t forget the wine!
Fall is also a great time for wine drinking, and many local wineries have harvest festivals and grape stomping. Here are three we love and also a few more ideas in our California Wine Month story.
More Halloween and October stuff
