A Downtown San Diego Brewery Tour

Take the trolley for a full day of brew hopping—without any driving or parking worries

1

Ride the trolley to the Park & Market stop. Walk three blocks west to Half Door Brewing Company (903 Island Avenue). The brewery-restaurant is housed in an early-1900s building near Petco Park. Start with pretzel bites and one of the many beers brewed in-house.

2

Walk half a mile to Mission Brewery (1441 L Street). Once home to the Wonder Bread factory, the space offers a lineup of core and seasonal beers, but why not try something unique—like a craft cocktail or the new Passionfruit Gose, made with real fruit?

3

Is it lunchtime yet? Stone Brewing Tap Room (795 J Street)—which shares a building with Fairweather and the sandwich-centric Rare Form, overlooking the Park at the Park—has a full seasonal menu along with many of their popular beers on tap.

4

Two blocks north is the speakeasy-ish Knotty Brewing (842 Market Street). The space sits adjacent to its sister restaurant, Knotty Barrel, and specializes in Belgian styles. For a unique taste, try the Dark Monk Rises Belgian Dark Ale.

5

End the day in the Gaslamp at the new Resident Brewing Company (1065 Fourth Avenue). Despite opening just a few months ago, this brewery has already made a name for itself with quality beers that pair well with the pub-centric food menu.
