Every December in Ocean Beach, the lighting of the Christmas tree at the foot of Newport Avenue kicks off the funky beach town’s annual holiday parade. This year, the 40-foot, 114-year-old evergreen proved to be a veteran of sorts. In 2003, 60 feet of the same tree served as OB’s annual Christmas tree, donated by the Troncellito family of nearby Brighton Avenue.
