March marks International Women’s Month and San Diego already has much in store this weekend to celebrate the women crafters, artists and innovators that call this city home. On Saturday night, Stone Brewing will be throwing a special International Women’s Day beer pairing dinner in Liberty Station and the WNDR Museum will host a market with 25 female vendors, live music, and intimate art performances. Plus, Casa De Familiar will be opening its 18th annual Dia de la Mujer (International Women’s Month) exhibition this Friday at The FRONT Gallery, displaying the works of more than 30 women artists crafting their Visions of the Future.

Casa de Pico and Patrón Tequila are teaming up for a special tasting dinner that blends a variety of regional Mexican flavors this Thursday at 6 p.m. For the night’s cocktails, guests will receive a Patrón-infused margarita, paloma, reposado shot and Mexican coffee throughout its three-course feast. Stone Brewing’s Liberty Station location is hosting a delectable meal for seafood and meat lovers feast in honor of International Women’s Day, featuring al pastor smoked salmon rillettes, venison and pork meatballs and slow-cooked duck carnitas. Guests will receive four food and drink pairings, with Stone Brewing pouring West Coast IPAs, sangrias and Imperial Brown Ales as part of the dinner menu. Tickets are $85 per person for this pairing dinner, taking place Saturday from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Besides being one of the most celebrated American bands of the aughts, LCD Soundsystem are a group whose music is engineered for crowd movement. Led by vocalist and producer James Murphy—the spark plug that powers the electronic rock/punk outfit—LCD Soundsystem is expected to release their first album in eight years sometime in 2025. If their most recent single “x-ray eyes” is any indication, the group may be taking it back to their roots. Tickets are on sale for $86 for LCD Soundsystem’s show this Saturday at Gallagher Square, featuring indie pop group Nation of Language.

Bodhi Tree Concerts – Voices of México at St. James by-the-Sea

Pop songs, opera arias and spirited duets by Mexican composers will be performed by soprano Mariana Flores Bucio, tenor Miguel Zazueta and pianist Iván Mares during Bodhi Tree Concerts‘ (BTC) upcoming performance Voices of México. This Sunday at 4 p.m. at St. James by-the-Sea, this show will be led by Bucio and Zazueta, two UC San Diego Master’s students who will star in the 2026 chamber opera Pancho Rabbit and the Coyote from BTC. Proceeds from this concert will benefit Earth Discovery Institute’s Monarch Butterfly Garden. General admission tickets for this show are $30 while premium, reserved seating in front is $50.

Casa Familiar’s 18th annual Dia de la Mujer (International Women’s Day) Exhibition, Visions of a Future will open with a reception this Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at The Front Gallery with tamales, drinks and music. Curated by Claudia Cano, Visions of a Future balances themes of migration, colonialism and identity in the Americas over time whilst the artists in the exhibition envision alternative possibilities as a refuge from political instability. The exhibition will feature several guest artists and over 30 women artists chosen through an open call.

Motown: The Groove That Changed America at California Center for the Arts, Escondido

During its golden age in the ’60s and early ‘70s, there was no record label more influential to the progression of R&B and soul music than Berry Gordy’s Motown Records. Home to artists like Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye and The Supremes, Motown forever changed popular music while nurturing some of the greatest artists to ever live. The CCAE Theatricals production of Motown: The Groove That Changed America, returning for two celebratory nights, will play the landmark music of Motown with the D. Ben-Jamin’ Band, a 20-piece orchestra and a group of powerhouse singers. Tickets range from $25 to $75 for both performances.

City Ballet’s Swan Lake Act II at Balboa Theatre

In its upcoming shows, The City Ballet of San Diego will perform one of the world’s most beloved ballets, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, The company will begin with the second act of Swan Lake, followed by the ballet’s iconic Black Swan Pas de Deux sequence and closing with the world premiere of choreographer Elizabeth Wistrich’s The Seasons, featuring the music of Alexander Glazunov. Jeon’s shattering separation from her husband sets up an emotionally resonant black and white bookbinding display, while Klein mourns her oldest son with collages and composites featuring kabuki masks and snow-covered landscapes inspired by her lasting trips to Japan.
