Special guests and local notables gathered for the premiere of the hour-long documentary produced by National Geographic Channel that highlights San Diego in its new series, “World’s Smart Cities: San Diego.” The evening featured a panel discussion, which included National Geographic Channel’s Andrew Evans. The documentary series looks at cities throughout the world that are on the cutting edge of technology, innovation, urban development, and quality of life, and it will air in more than 60 countries. San Diego was the only city in North America to be selected as one of the “World’s Smart Cities.”
