The Boys & Girls Clubs of East County will present its 51st annual Conrad’s Supper Club, formerly called the Children’s Ball, on Feb. 25, at the Omni San Diego Hotel. The event has been renamed in honor of the late philanthropist Conrad Prebys. La Mesa residents Ron and Mary Alice Brady will also be recognized on Feb. 25. The event raises funds to meet the financial demands to provide programs and activities for the 3,000 children served annually at the five clubhouse sites in East County.
The 32nd Annual YMCA of San Diego County Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Human Dignity Award breakfast hosted by the Jackie Robinson Family YMCA was held on Jan. 13 at the Town & Country Resort Hotel. The Human Dignity Award is given each year to a person or persons who most exemplify the work and character of Dr. King. The honorees of the past encompass outstanding qualities of volunteerism, philanthropy and activism in the San Diego community. This year the YMCA honored Jeffrey Harper-Harris and Dr. Richard Butcher (posthumously). Sponsors included Bank of America, SDG&E Sempra, Union Bank, WalMart and Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company.
Bishop’s School
The Bishop’s School’s auction season was kicked off on Feb. 4. The 32nd auction will be held at Bishop’s on Apr. 8 and the theme is Knight in Havana. 2016 Emmy-winner Louie Anderson and Chris Garcia will provide entertainment. Chairs for the evening are Jennifer Greenfield, Sherry Manoogian and Haeyoung Tang. Funds raised will support the Bishop’s Financial Aid and Faculty Professional Growth Programs.
Go Red for Women
The American Heart Association’s annual Go Red For Women Luncheon is being held on Feb. 24 At the Fairmont Grand Del Mar. This year’s luncheon will include a Macy’s Go Red Fashion Show. This year’s San Diego Legendary Women of the Heart being honored at the luncheon are Martha Dennis, Hannah Step, Lori Walton and Ruth Westreich. Proceeds will go to support education and research programs.

STAR/PAL hosted their 7th Annual TRI-N-HARDER-4-KIDS Indoor Triathlon in memory of Officer Jeremy Henwood at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center. The event raised $11,500 to benefit youth programs and the SDPOA Law Enforcement Memorial Fund.
The 39th Annual Women’s Auxiliary Gala “Seacrest Vintage 2017” is being presented by Seacrest Foundation. The event is chaired by Cindy and Larry Bloch and is being held on Feb. 25 at the Hyatt Regency at Aventine La Jolla. Proceeds will support the Resident Assistance Fund, which provides charitable care for the members in the community who are most in need.
St. Madeleine Sophie’s Center raised $28,000 at Tea by the Sea on Jan. 28. SDSC partnered with the Marine Room for the Tea and included a visit from Chef Bernard. The funds will be used to fund the new Sophie’s Gallery Photography Curriculum. SMSC serves adults with developmental disabilities through innovative programs.
On Feb. 25 San Diego Humane Society will hold the 2017 Walk for Animals. The event is being held at Kit Carson Park. The second Walk for Animals is scheduled to be held on May 6 at NTC Park at Liberty Station.
